Trout yesterday!!

After looking for reds and finding a few scattered and spooked ones I decided to look for trout.I went to an old trout hole and using my home made dock hook set it around a dock piling and let the tide lock me up.Second cast with the shad grub i hooked up with a 13 inch trout.he hit hard and fought pretty good on that lite rig.I guess We were late getting to that spot because the bite lasted about 15-20 minutes. They hit the shad and pink and white twister grub.Cast another 15 minutes changing grubs but that school had moved on.One keeper at 16 inches that was released.I think we pulled about 14 out of that school all around 12-13 inches.Went down river and fished the docks I thought the school might hold on but no takers.Should have went to my Church creek holes but I was low on fuel.Water was clear in spots to 4 feet.Water temp was 58 on the ICW and 61 in my creek.Fished several docks for reds and saw no action. Two docks had about 300 gulls sitting on the dock rails.Eased in and set the Power pole and prayed the gulls would not spook and dump on us.LOL I figured the gulls were waiting for bait to get cut up by reds or trout.Fished for about 30 minutes and saw nothing but Gulls crapping in the water.LOL Called it a day and went home.Any of you guys chase the birds inshore? I have and found fish that way.Merry Christmas to all!!!:sunglasses::sunglasses:

I’ve only chased gulls when surf fishing… I’ll keep an eye out for them while on the boat now. Certainly worth a try if the bite is otherwise slow. Thanks for the tip.
