I’ve been fishing the area for a while and have done well with the reds. I have a 7wt rod that i use and would like to start hooking into some sea trout. I’ve used top water plugs and clousers at the mouth of creeks, no luck. I was thinking about getting some sinking line, any suggestions?
not an expert. save your $ and buy a cheap bag of split shot weights. the guys as chs angler said that would work.
I catch them on a weight forward floating line on my 5wt without any problems. Its more the area and how your working them. I use topwater plugs and a few other patterns including another topwater mullet style pattern. I cant comment on the sinking line because that might work great im just sharing my expierence with you. If you have more questions shoot away.

I would not be too keen on putting a split shot on a fly line and having it come off.Probably like getting shot with a BB gun.I use a clear sink tip line and it works well.Keep at it,clousers work well with trout.
Teeny 250.
If a man wakes up early to go fishing he 's sleep deprived, If a man wakes up late to go fishing he’s fish deprived
UT buy a sink tip line they will allow you to get down to where the trout are feeding during the tidal movement. A fast sinking tip and a weighted clouser are the ticket.
Thanks to all. I appreciate the info. I’ll be out in the next few days so I will report on the catching:smiley:
Ditto on the Teeny 250, have it on a 7wt , I even use it on the flats in high wind or wanting to get down in the grass, also use suspending flies like bucktail decievers with it so the fly is just off the bootom flowing in the current
