trout

Pretty sure i saw them stocking trout in the Saluda today. They are pretty good on the grill, but i have heard there are better uses for them. ;)…lol…would insert winking smily if i werent on the phone. catch’em while they are plentiful.

we make a trip up north several times during striper season.we get about 4 dozen.:smiley:not for the grill:wink:

I’ve heard people say you cant catch them on the saluda to use for bait on murray, but I sure can’t find any law saying I can’t. Looks like I can as long as I catch them legally. I know there is a new law about releasing bait caught from another body of water, but you can fish with it. I can probably catch 4 dozen on the river in the time it takes to drive to NC and back.

you think so???now did i say north carolina or up north???

Years ago it was true that you were not able to catch them in one body of water and fish with them in another, but it’s legal now.

IMO, I just don’t feel like there’s enough big fish on the lake these days to make it worth the extra time and trouble to go trout fishing first. Would love to see one of you guys prove me wrong!

I’ve only fished at the coast the last few months, but I’m gonna go for a boat ride looking for some schooling fish on the lake late Sat afternoon. If I put in at the state park can I get out after dark? anyone know what time/if they lock the gate?

I work across from Saluda Sholes can get a couple on lunch break and keep them them in my bait tank until the weekend. Worth a try, there are some bigger fish left. Plus I like going to the river catching trout.

Sharky,
How big are the trout you buy?

8-12 inches

You still have to stay with the daily limit in your possession.

I’d rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

I thought news said they were Stocking this past Friday but I could be wrong. Would’ve liked to go out there with ultra light and had a little fun. Just put a light out on a dock and catch those big azz slimy Shad. Only problems we have with those is the Osprey won’t leave you alone if they see you pulling them.
