today was another great day on the water. still finding plenty of shrimp in the creeks and on the mudd flats despite water temps of 65-67. Caught some huge mullet today too but will vaccum seal them for redfish bait for the winter. Had two buckets full of shrimp for bait in jsut a few casts so decided to try fishing some new places. Took turns picking spots and three of them turned out to be good ones. Depth seemed to make a big difference today. Fished the shrimp under a regular weighted cork and the depth seemed to be best at 36 inchs or a little less… For some reason two split shot about 8 inchs from the hook worked . I added one more when current picked up and the bite shut down on me…10 minutes later …took the third one off and the bite was on again. Added the third one back just to check…and no fish. Same with the depth…and I fished it this way all three "good " places. Bites were hard hits but they seemed to want to spit it as soon as you began to reel…so had to leave it just a few secnds more. in the creek we fished seemed the deeper part was better than along the marsh. Caught at least 50 trout today…no joke…and not a single red. Two little flounder and of course throw in a couple stingray and a bakers dozed of perch and pinfish…we were kept busy. Water was super clear. Left the fish biting . All released to be caught another day or to bring a lot of fun to the next person who happens upon them:smiley: Will get in another quick morning trip as I go back to work tommorow night at 1930.
