I assume that trout are pretty hot in the early morning before it gets too hot? Last summer I was doing pretty good around this time but haven’t gotten out yet. Any reports?
I have found that while early morning is nice and pleasant, trout are more affected by water movement and bait than time of day. That point was driven home when some friends and I had been fishing for trout since around 6:00 AM. At 9:00 AM, we didn’t have a fish. Wind changed and tide started moving. At 1:00 PM, we had 200 trout. I still go at the crack of day.

Morning topwater bite has been good. Got a couple nice ones around 18" yesterday up some creeks in the Wando just casting to cuts and drains. Bone spook jr was my weapon of choice. This time of year as the sun gets higher the trout bite will be a bit more difficult. Try deep water then, but it’s a tough bite.

Harold. .I know you fish the gulf a lot. Are you speaking about local waters or down there. …? Just curious.
Trout are light sensitive you’ll get a lot more bites in low light hours
