Truck sunk at wapoo cut

Anyone see the red Chevy truck sunk at wapoo cut around 4:30pm? Anyone know what happened?

I pulled out around 2:30 or 3. The big excitement at that hour was the Bayliner that forgot to put their plug in. I’m going down there next weekend with my grill and cooler of beer to just to watch the show.

There’s always a good show going on out there.

Man I wish I lived down there. I might spend every Sunday afternoon down there with a cooler and a chair. Hate to hear that happens but it seems to a few times a year.

D, this makes 2x in the last month that I know of!

Obviously the government needs to step in to stop this from happening. How many more trucks must be ruined because someone did not take action?

action = set e-brake!

can i get a sea tow membership for my truck?

The government must step in and commission a study on this problem. Maybe have government boat putter inner’s and outers! Kind of like Harbor Pilots:wink: Maybe they can require a license and a test for certification:face_with_head_bandage:

I saw a guy rush backing up quick and slam his brake and skid into the water almost passed his back tires. A checklist can be a life saver there is a lot to forget, my specialty is leaving the anchor at the house. (twice this year so far)

My most embarrasing moment so far was leaving the truck running with the dog in the cab while taking the safety chain off. I had backed down the ramp and we were fishing a striper tournament. Anyway the dog hit the lock button on the door and we could not move. What was a two lane ramp was a one laner for the next two hrs. OOPS! I did learn that not all fishermen have a lot of patience for idiots. (me)

Haha, I can picture the dog locking the door and saying to himself “gotcha dummy”

i leave my window down when on the boat ramp, even if it’s pouring rain. ever since my buddy accidentally locked my doors somehow when grabbing his wallet he forgot out of my old tahoe. my tahoe was running, at the bottom of the ramp, just after low tide, and it took the locksmith over an hour to get there, it wasn’t a busy boating day thankfully so nobody was trying to strangle me for hogging the lane, but my taillights were almost under water by the time the locksmith got me in.

my biggest idiot moment was forgetting the plug in my 1st boat, an older I/O 21’ deep v cuddy, I made it about 200yds shy of the James Island Connector before the water line was so high it killed the engine. it was about 40 degrees outside, my buddy beat me in the water thankfully, & it took him 4 or 5 dives under the swim platform & outdrive before he finally got the plug screwed in. I have never forgotten my plug since that day!

My biggest bone head move was forgetting to put the pin through the trailer hitch. Got everything all hooked up, including the safety chains and started pulling. Lets just say the safety chains worked well. No harm no foul but my checklist goes a long way these days.

YES always always always.

I’ve forgotten the plug a time or to also, but it is easy enough to catch before it gets out of hand in my boat.

My first time ever behind the wheel was pulling up a boat… My cousin neglected to tell me you need to apply the brakes to change gears, that was fun!
I actually got applause after i got that truck back up the ramp after being half underwater.

Lol nice. I remember helping a friend pull a 20’ (or so) Boston Whaler out of a ramp on Lake Wylie, he was towing it with a late 80’s Chevy Caprice Classic. Which was interesting to say the least.

My buddy backed down for me a few ekes back and put my pack tires in the water, scared the crap outta me 1. because its two wheel drive and 2. I don’t want to be the topic of this forum all went smooth though.

Low outgoing tide at shem creek - slowly went down the ramp as its slippery, stopped, needed to go about 6" more, truck slid 2’ more. Trailer started to float, boat hit the guide poles and the current took the boat and trailer into the rocks next to the ramp.
-Saturday morning, memorial day.-

Had to get two boats and my engine to pull my boat off the trailer.

Needed my truck and a big jacked up suburban to pull my trailer off the rocks.

Blocked one lane of the ramp for 1 hour + on one of the worst days of the year.

Yep - I was “that guy” that day.

This thread is useless without pics

Good for you on posting that. There are a lot of people on this forum who were born on a boat with a fishing rod in their hand and have never made a mistake in their life, or at least their comments seem to reflect that. Everybody is human and makes mistakes.
