Need a new set of tires for my 06 Tundra. Sadly the set on there now only has 26,000 miles but, they are more than 5 years old and have developed tiny micro cracks between the treads so.
Anyway, looking at Yokohama Geolandar G056 and General Grabber HTS60 tires. Looking for anyone that has had any actual experience with either. Not interested in any other tires, have narrowed it down to these 2.
Yokohama on my GMC 2500 around 45,000 miles on them. I could probably squeeze out another 10. Had michelin’s on before that. And they were done for at 40,000. Both had all terrain tread. The Yokohama are a lot quieter going down the highway.
Well, went to a local tire shop today to see about tires. The manager came out and looked at mine and said he would not replace them as the cracks were superficial and not on a place on the tire where it would concern him. He said he would not worry about them at this point. I asked him if he would drive his car with these tires and he said, “absolutely”. He stated that he would love to sell me a set of tires but just didn’t feel I needed to replace them right now. How refreshing. He just made a new customer.
Thanks for the input.
"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?
You obviously never been in dire straights with a shredded tire and no spare along the side of a road. Bought my first used tire for $8 outside of Richmond Va. and was dam glad to dumb luck into it after carrying the rim on foot down the road. The gas/service station( not many around these days) had 2 racks of used tires and my man fixed me right up…too busy to take me back to my truck. No worries…I wasn’t carrying the rim back…
Last time I bought one they was $15…for my 4wd suburban that I pull stumps with and move boats around my yard.
