I’ve had oil leakage problems with my Honda 225. I spoke with the head mechanic today at Charleston Marine and he made me feel comfortable with a solution to the problem. Before committing the $$ to fix the engine I’d like to hear opinions on Charleston Marine’s credibility. Thanks.

I have used Charleston Marine in the past with good results, competent, professional, make sure they leave your boat the way it came in would be my only warning
I took my boat there for some Yamaha factory updates a few years ago. After over 2 months, I finally got my boat back. Linkage wasn’t even hooked back up and several harnesses/clips were not right and 1 motor didn’t even run. I took it back to him and during the next several weeks while sitting in his yard, someone stole my 10" Raymarine screen, VHF, and some other stuff. Several thousand dollars later for new electronics and over 3 months in total with the motors still not right (which by the way ran perfectly before I took it there), I picked up the boat and took it over to Hanckel and within a few days, I was back in the water.
I have used several around town. But two years ago I found a great mechanic. He runs an independant shop and does a great job
He has worked on my yamahas, fiberglass, electrical, fuel system

If you are west ashley go to Hanckel without a doubt and talk to Ben in service or John in parts and if in mt. p Rob at Seels is a great guy as stated in another post
Charleston Marine is the only place I take my boat to. Chris V. is a top notch guy and there is a reason he has so many boats in his yard. He does great work.
Umm, you gonna eat that?

That is a different company than Seel’s; it is located close by-
behind Seel’s.
Don’t know much about them; a friend told me they had returned his boat with unconnected
cables.

There’s also a really good man who does work from his home on James island…especially for older motors and when looking forhard to find used parts for older motors…has always done us right and helped us get our little motor up and running and saved us much mulla ;). Quick turn around too…and if he can’t fix it…he’ll tell ya so.

We have used charleston marine for our big boat parts also …and Chris has always been a big help…and reccently helped me find a little boat for my daddy. Thanks again Chris…if you see this…love your new shop!
Does all the work on:
All Rise (twin F250s)
Holt on (twin F250s)
Two Sons (twin F300s)
all our little boats.
Can not say enough good things about him. I drive from Greenville to get him to work on my boat and the other two drive from Columbia. Lots of the Georgetown crowd come to see him too.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
