ttop aluminum cleaner

My T-Top is getting some nasty corrosion on it. Not sure if i can even get all of it off but its that milky look with some spots looking almost corroded.

Got any recommendations? Would something like flitz metal polish work?

thanks for any info!

There used to be some stuff called “Shelly Shine or Shealy Shine” that worked pretty good. I’m not sure if it’s still around. What ever you use, make sure it’s not too abrasive. A lot of polishes are too harsh for anodized aluminum. You might get a good shine for a while, but it won’t last and they wear through the anodized coating that protects the aluminum. I’ve had fair luck with super fine bronze(0000)wool and a little lacquer thinner. Just take it easy.

Flitz works well and is safe for just about every surface. Happy Bob is right about using fine bronze wool. It will save a lot of elbow grease.

bronze wool and woody wax worked about the best for me. I tried flitz and all those other with okay results. The fact is once corrosion starts on aluminum there is no going back.
