Well a fat ole spottail shook and twisted the last ‘cheap’ jig head I will throw! Not saying that I would had for sure landed the beast but it would had certainly raised my chances! After about 5 casts the rod buckles over and screams drag! Follow at full speed with troller and the current and still pulling drag. Seemed like forever to get him to the boat then he sees us and takes off again! Cuts left then right then spits the hook! Coulda cried …haha…no really I could had
Finally got over that and hooked a small flatty.
100 yards down or so anchor up to fish a point…something whacks the TT/TE combo…a personal best 33+ that fought hard too but nothing like the first one!!
A good friend lands one from close by as well, 28" or so
Cast in the tree one time so go to retrieve it and find a gang of gar hanging in the well lit shallow! How many do you see??
Ended up trying to catch some charks to end the evening and only got one small one after the wind laid down! All in all it was a great Tuesday after work!
Trout tricks , grubs and cut mullet water in the upper 70’s outgoing tide!

Thats not a trout eye. But any hook will bend if you put enough heat on it. The TE hook is the best hook in its size on the market. Mustad black nickel ultrapoint. Great day, Stump!!!
Optiker you’re right in both ways…NO it is not a TE that got mangled and yes you can horse even a 3 or 4 ought hook (and larger) to warp and bend. I saw the the spottail and it was a beast…I didn’t put any extra pressure on him and have my drag close to perfect, he just out manuvered me plain and simple!
And I’m sure he has been called OCC Mikey on more than one occasion…sometimes even worse names than that
No guesses on the gar fish fellas?
