Left the dock at noon with some first time saltwater anglers. We were all rewarded with flat seas once again.
Started at the Parking Lot, to let them get their sea legs and put a few bottom fish in the box. After a few spots, we collected some nice BSB and B-liners. You guys must have cleaned out all of the ARS as there were none brought up!
A school of mahi danced around the boat. Just for kicks we hooked one on a plug. Measured out at 16 inches - maybe next week he will be big enough to keep?
Off to the scarp for the afternoon bite. Lines in at 3pm - three strikes in no time. Zero landed. And then it slowed down. A few more short strikes, a few cut offs. Zero for six?!?
And then the way back goes off. First HOO in the boat.
And then the planar rod. Epic battle with the greenhorn versus the HOO. We see color, we see a 60+ lber. Just short of gaffing range and the wire breaks - aarrgghh!
Getting close to calling it a day, the bite turned back on. Two more HOO at the 6pm mark. One more pass, one more pass until 6.30pm - quitting time. A few more short strikes- I think the tally was three for eleven?
Great ride home with three HOOS in the box and two more inductees to the PainKiller wall of photos!
Tight lines,
Jason
