Tuesday night

Paddled out last night with 2 friends to do some gigging. Beached the kayaks and walked with lanterns for a few hours. Ended up with 12 flounder none<16" with 8> 18". Saw many more but only took what we needed. Awesome way to spend the evening. Only 1 problem. Someone needs to invent a beer holder so when I walk with my gig in one hand and my lantern in the other I can still enjoy a frosty beverage. Got back by 11 p.m. soaked, muddy and happy.

Cayman,
go on the internet and “Google” beer belt. There is a company that invented an ingenious neoprene belt that holds 6 beers. Its like having a 6 beer coozie on your waist. I think its around $30. Well worth it in my opinion!

Hey Cayman, sounds like a blast. My area is full of pluff mud or razor shape oysters. What type of bottom where your and the buds stalking? How shallow will you gig in or find the flounders? Hope you solve your dilema with the barely pops. v/r tf :8ball:

The closer you get to the inlets (Stono, North Edisto) the sandier the bottom is. We were on hard sand so it was like walking down the beach . Most of the flounder were in deeper water 2-3’ due to the moon phase and the fact it was a clear night. I like to go on a new moon or very cloudy night when they have to move in even shallower. Luckily where we were there was no current or wind so the water was clear and we could still see them that deep. 1 fish though was in water no deeper than 2" right on the bank.

Cayman, thanks for that insight. Best of luck on your future ventures. v/r tf

Hey, check out this site for the beer holder, http://www.hopsholster.com/miva/hh002.htm

Thanks for the link I will be the holder of the belt soon!! Now I know what I want for christmas. Planned on paddling over to devaux(sp) bank last night with a buddy to do some surf fishing but decided against it with all the wind. Ended up soaking 1/2 crabs off the north beach of Seabrook until about 10 p.m. hoping for the man (red > 36")to come through but he never did. Oh well awesome moonrise anyway. May get out in the kayak Sat. a.m. if the wind dies.

Sat AM looks like it may work. I’m gonna try to see if I’ve got the right color plastics to get some bites. Finding the fish right now is no problem, but they seem picky.
