Turkey in the smoker

Got a pork butt in there too, but it needs a couple more hours.

Looks perfectly done. Hard to beat smoked turkey.

Looks good!

That looks great! Gotta try that.

Did you brine or inject?

Thanks for posting.

Neither. I like to keep it simple.

Made a rub, used onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, crushed oregano, thyme and a pinch of turmeric. Turmeric helps with the color.
Basted with olive oil and then rubbed it.

Also, stuffed it with coarsely chopped celery, carrots, oinon and a few cloves of garlic.

Smoke for about 8 hrs until temp is about 180-185.

Smoking a Turkey can provide a moist and better tasting bird than any other method I have found.

I like to keep it simple too. I have a vertical smoker and I usually put the butt over the turkey…mmmmm turkey with pork fat glazing mmmmm…

That does sound good, OFM!

How long did you smoke it for and how big is the bird?

It was a small bird, don’t remember the weight. I think it was about 11-12#'s.

It was around 8 hrs, but temp is much more important than time. 180-185.
