I can’t believe this has not been talked about, knowing this board, but all signs point to turnover. I just looked at the water data site. Surface temp is 72 with a bottom of 71. Surface DO is 8 with the bottom spiking to 6.6. It seems to be happening a bit early much to my surprise.
I have the Hydrologist from SCE&G coming to the next meeting to explain the lake stratification process on Lake Murray…
Ron Ahle will also be there to discuss how this process affects the fishery…
Hate that I’m going to miss that. Should be some good information.

I usually get the pot stirred every year…I have just about (but not completely ) quit responding/posting to public forums and facebook. Both places used to be a gold mine for info. Now it’s full of sarcastic comments and know it all’s giving bad info or bs answers.
I tell people now, make your circle and make it a small one.
And yes the lake turned Mon night. I did share that on lake Murray fishing reports page yesterday But that’s about as far as I went.

Good to hear from you Chip! With the nature of my work as a middle school teacher, I’m very guarded with social media and don’t do Facebook. I do have Instagram and Twitter accounts but have never posted or Tweeted. I just look and follow.
On fishing boards, I now try to post only positive and informative experiences and opinions along with occasionally engaging in healthy debate without personal attacks. The older I get, the more important that has become.
Chip, you and I have discussed my thoughts on social media and you know about me and Facebook. I was seriously re-thinking my position on it, but your post just threw water all over that small ember.
Anyway, back to the topic. I had watched the data up until last Friday, but not since. I saw Richy’s post on our home forum and was surprised that the lake had turned. Even though I haven’t followed it as closely in the past, it seems kind of early this year.

It’s a shame you feel that way. Many of you are a wealth of knowledge I’ve looked to for learning and progression purposes while still trying it on my own and fishing places others aren’t.
I wasn’t home but the wife said the surface was on fire near my house on Saturday. I asked her if they were typical small fish we’ve been seeing and she said it was not. If I get a chance to check it out this week I’ll post it up.
