TWIN VEE

Does anyone have or have run a twin vee brand boat my buddy is looking at a new one and was wondering if anyone has any info or any review on them

PM Jerms here. He has a 19’ baycat…and it might actually be for sale soon. We’ve run that boat in the chop and it performs very well. Taken it to the cans outside the jetties and 4ki on several occasions and it does well.

Other than him, Bully (Billy Freeman) would easily be the cat expert here and could tell you anything you wanted to know and more about cat hulls.

Used to fish out of a 25’ Seacat with twin honda 130 could have used a bit more hp, but fuel consumption was great. Running across the harbor in 3-4’ is amazing. You expect the thump but it doesn’t come. Driving one is totally different that a V-hull. Cross seas tend to snatch you in a different manner and I never got used to steering hard while on plan. Never ran it in over 6’ but you didn’t come home beat with sore calves and an aching back. It would “sneeze” on you from time to time, but was an over all dry ride. Running in the dark hitting an unexpected out of place wave was a breeze.

On the con’s it’s a tall boat to load ice and tackle on and I hated when I had to trailer it in a strong tide.

I would defiantly sea trial one before purchase.

newer twin vees are very well built and have great customer service.

2000 20’ Twin Vee

Reelsouthern…I run a 26’ Twin Vee…2008. Love the boat…hard to find a boat in the price range that will ride like it does. The boat is very efficient on fuel with twin 150’s. The only thing Twin Vee does not have is much dry storage…and no fish box. I use a 270qt cooler for offshore trips. The best thing to do is test one out when it is nasty in the ocean…we always have the short period seas and the TV does better than most in it’s size class. You will hear all kinds of ridiculous comments about cat hulls so a personal test drive is a must.

I have an 2005 26’ one love it.

If he is looking for a new boat give billy freeman a call. Local builder and I am sure he will take you on a ride. Nothing against twin vee but the Freeman seems to be the top of the line right now.

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

I fished a 28 cudy prokat for a few years (not mine) and it was a big and (and very tall) boat for its size. Twin 140s pushed it in the mid 20kts at cruise and fuel burn was OK but it was always loaded way down with gear. In my experience cats are amazing in certain seas such as head on but get a bit hairy if you have a novice at the helm when surfing down a steep swell on a following sea because one hull will catch the water and want to roll the boat. They also waddle really hard when drifting sideways to the wave direction.
That being said I haven’t had the pleasure of fishing on a modern CC cat like the Feeman boats. I wish we could keep more of them in town but from what I hear they sell like hotcakes to buyers in the gulf.

Angler’s Dream

Have fished on the Freeman 33 several times and IMO it is the best riding center console I have ever been in. If I could afford one
there is no question of my boat choice. It is a mean machine with plenty of storage and a beautiful finish…Rolls Royce of cats. If you are on a tighter budget the Twin Vee is hard to beat. You can pick up a used 26’ for 40 to 50k. Very stable platform and your back will thank you.
