Two Days Kayak Report Cooper and Wando

Yesterday I put the kayak in after work on the Cooper river at peak high tide to just see what I could come up with. I head to one spot and can’t buy a bite. Until I am reeling in a mud minnow and not two feet from the boat a large (about 3.5 foot gar snatches that minnow and scares the living daylights out of me. I move a little bit and eventually hook into a nice 20" red that promplty went into the cooler to be released into some grease.

And that was all she wrote for that day. The wind was howling and you could tell when everyone got off work. The cooper became a freeway for boats. So back to the ramp I went.

Now today is one of the best fishing trips I have had in a while. Not because I caught a lot of anything. But because I had my best fishing buddy with me. Ever since I starting looking at kayaks I wanted to make sure I got one that I could take my daughter out on. Well today was her first trip on the yak with me. We went up on the Wando and I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
