Okey Dokey… So my buddies at March Brown sent me a beautiful 12ft 8wt fly rod… yes 12 feet. I was playing wiht it a little bit and I think I have an idea on how to cast it… I am getting a little line out, doing a HUGE roll cast type cast and letting the line shoot out… sometimes it’s good sometimes not so good… Am I in the right track here and need more practice or am I just in left field? Oh yeah… this is supposed to be the prize for the HOW tourney and I wanted to make sure I knew how to throw it before I handed it off to a winner so if they needed it I can help them learn to throw it…

There are many types of Spey casts (btw- thats a spey rod)… and they are all basically modified “roll” casts… but there are rules, and techniques that require some practice to really get the potential out of the rod… I have limited experience with them.
Hollar at scotty… he’s spent some time workin a rod with both hands… lol
but seriously, call scotty…

Nikon it sounds interesting. thats a huge poll. Have you caught a fish on it yet? P.S. saw your video today on you fly fishing in Iraq. Thats pretty awesome. I was deployed to Qatar, The air force base was too far from water for me to fly fish. Plus i dont know the qatari monarchy works with fishing soo… i just left it alone. Doha was on the gulf and (**() that was some pretty water.
