Two Late Reports (Sweetwater)

Fished the Chatooga up in the Sumter Natl. Forest…first time fly fishing in SC trout waters. I was pleasantly surprised. After a steep hike down to the river found some beautiful water and fished a couple local patterns from the Fly Shop up there in the forest. Caught a bunch of really pretty Rainbows and one Brown…landed about a dozen fish in 3 hrs and lost or missed another 6 or 8 fish. Forgot how much fun the trout fishing was and the beauty and solitude up there was exceptional.

Also; just returned from PA. Fished the middle Delaware. Took a canoe down and we ended up with half dozen decent smallies. It was really hot so the fishing was slow. Saw half dozen Bald Eagles and some great scenery up there. Caught up with the family and enjoyed lots of cold beers.

Next trout trip…Green River in Utah…can’t wait for that one.

Did you hike down big bend road on the chatooga? Or did you hike the trail that leads behind burells Ford campground? That’s what I did and caught my first and several big ones on spinning gear

I’m a high class redneck.

Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in pfgs and buffs.

Sounds good. I actually just got back from nj bout an hour ago. I fished a few trout streams before the rivers got really warm. Managed 12 last Saturday and 3 the next day. Then I did some surf casting and caught a few bluefish between 4 and 8 lbs that were busting bunker a few feet from shore. I wanted to get out and do some smallie fishing but couldn’t find the time to go back up to the right places

hiked down at the end of Big Bend…sweated like a pig on the way out…pretty steep

How long it take u to get from charleston to the chattoga

stayed in Greenville…made the run over to the forest in the a.m. It was about an hour and twenty…the family stayed in Greenville for the day while I hit the river…perfect town for the girls to wander. Greenville was a cool town.

Yeah you know if its your legs down its not fun coming back up. But it was worth it!
