Two Sons 7-17-13

I missed a good weather day last week due to no crew, so this week I was able to pull a few together, so we cleared the inlet about 5:30 and settled in pointed at the ledge. Zig zagged the ledge for a while with nothing, then came on some kind of floating debris/wood and worked that for a while. Ended up with two nice dolphin off of that and missed probably 3 more. That slowed and we moved on down the ledge and picked up a 25lb wahoo. Picked up a nice triple of AJ’s too.

Switched to bottom fishing and caught some nice b-liners and other bottom dwellers. AJ’s all over the ledge including this one caught on a chicken rig…pretty sure it ate a porgy on the way up.

On our last bottom drop, my son spotted a big fish in the water…he yells “Wahoo”, and sure enough there is a 50lber just circling the boat. I throw some cigars, and the fish just cruises by and eats them. Hooked one on a sea witch and threw it out. The fished sniffed it a few times then took it. I have never seen a fish move as fast at this one did. It went around the back of the boat, then off the bow and I thought we might have a chance as drag was screaming. Then as fast as the fish went away it did a nascar style lap around the boat…then it was over. Total time was probably 10 seconds. I will remember losing that fish for a while, but as fast as it happened could not have done anything different.

Not many pics today but some nice fish in the box.

that AJ makes my back hurt just lookin

Sure that wasnt a king or a cuda circling the boat?
