Got a little later start today and was in the water by 6:15. Since the weather forecasts have been wrong most of the time this year for me, I was not expecting a flat calm ocean, but that is what we got.
Lines in at the ledge at 8:00 and we had knocks downs and cut offs until about 10:00 and looked in the box only to see 1 dolphin.
Well, we can always go bottom fishing…then the dinner bell rings and we get doubled up on 2 dolphin, one of them is really nice size. Boat one of them, then the leader breaks on the big one… Well, we can always go bottom fishing.
Then around 12:00 we get a big bite on the planer and our newest crew member (thanks for the help Scoutin) springs into action and puts a hurt on a nice wahoo. Alright the day is getting better.
Reset the gear and the rod gets hit again and our wahoo reeler is on it, another nice wahoo.
Troll for a little while longer and get a 20 lb wahoo for the box. 3 wahoo and 2 dolphin…let’s try our luck with the red snapper… I had some tips from a friend for some tackle to try and areas to target…it is much appreciated
