Got on the water around 8:30 with my oldest 2 and only had an hour or two to fish before we had to be back home. Tide was pretty close to dead low but still moving ok. Idled down Horlbeck Creek past some docks until I saw a lot of water moving. We posted up there. My oldest fished mud minnows on a jig head and my middle girl fished a mud minnow under a cork. She caught her first fish ever - about 6” of flounder. She was super excited. When we got back home my wife suggested leaving the boat hooked up so we could all go later, so after mowing, kids heading to birthdays, etc. we headed back out with all 5 of us. We hit Horlbeck again and headed down by Boone Hall. I caught an 11” flounder with a mud minnow, we had some other bites, and then moved on a bit to a dock we see people fishing a lot. One good bite and my wife wound up fighting and losing a monster red that slammed a mud minnow under a cork. Our 2 year old was an ace minnow catcher and kept us all supplied with bait the whole trip. All in all probably the best day on the water ever.
