Tying with Skull Eyes

I bought a pack the other day tied a fly with them, but I was wondering how they sink I have yet to put him the water, and was wondering if anyone else has fished with any flies with the skull eyes. I tied it on a size 4 Gamakatsu B10S, and it was the small skull eye.

Great for a “little” extra depth when fish are shallow. I use them on Wulff Clear Int. lines and 20# floro leaders for stripers(top fly in pic was battle tested last spring)in the backs of coves and when blue backs spawn. These are the medium eyes.

Here is what I ended up tying with the skull eyes, I expanded more in the main forum

Also what is the pink you have tied into the flies, is that an indicator, or do you find it attracts the fish

Stripers love a bit of pink. Nice looking flies

Not sure how effective they will be, but just a test use, I haven’t tied in about 3 months, well since I was walking flats, so Sept some time …

we have all of their stuff…cant remember the cost (foggy night)…did you see the catfish fly? i think they would make a killer toadfish- assuming you could find a material ugly enough for the body!

ha does look like a toadfish, but if I were a fish I would rather have something more delightful such as a mullet or mudminnow haha, I might have to pick some of the stuff up … see ya soon

Hey Reel,
Can you tell a catch difference strictly based on color of skull

Not really, just change it up when the water gets a little dirty(darker heads). Probably more or less just in my head
