All. Lived in Charleston for a short period of time (unfortunately it was just a short time) a couple years back. Most of the my time on the water was spent on low tides in the cooler months. Planning a trip to come back and fish the flood tides. My question is, how much does the tide need to flood to get up on some tailing flats? Fished a tailing tide once and it was over 6’, is this the norm? Much obliged.
You will be able to find flooded flats on tides of 5.8 and above, although there are a few around that flood and have fish on a mid 5 tide. I recommend you find flats that you can fish on a 5.8 all they way up to 7.0 if you want to get the most of the of tailing season.
