Alan Tani (the hull truth) did a piece about the Saltist reels…lots of corrosion problems internal, and problems with the anti reverse dogs snapping off of them. I will see if I can find the article

2 speed is the way to go if you have the $
i have never seen a need for a 2speed, unless you have little kids who want to reel in a fish wo help. i don’t think people understand what the low gear actually does. it only makes it easier to turn the handle.

that’s what I do. These kids from Montana, Vermont, West Virginia, Kansas, etc don’t want help reeling in these fish but are not used to a big conventional rod. Hell, they struggle and get awkward with a spinning rod!
I got the Saltist 30s in and am very pleased with my first impression. I’ll be getting the rods in this week and look forward to fishing with them soon.
