U-Rigs?

Never had any experience with U-Rigs and was wondering what to get started with and techniques. Also color, type, weight, ect… Just looking to see what everyone prefers. Thanks

I use a five rig U-rig. I use bucktails but i know that people also use swimbaits crankbaits, etc. Just make sure your middle bait is set back about 4-6 inches from the other baits. Setting your drag right is very important to make sure that your rigs don’t pop off on strike.

You go inside the cage?
Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark’s in the water. Our shark.

How big a reel and heavy a rod are you using to pull a U rig of that size. I use my Shimano Speedmaster Kingfish combo and sometimes have wondered what others use. Thinking I have a too heavy setup.

Tld 25’s and Penn 650’s. Nothing too big but its big enough to handle the job. I also normally pull with lead core on the
Tld’s. Doesn’t make too much of a difference i think, but its what i’ve always done and works pretty well for me so i don’t really wanna change.

we use 9 chartruese or white bucktail jigs with hawg caller worms on our u rigs. Use 1/4 oz jigs with 100-125’ of line out to get 25-30’ deep. Use 1/2-3/4 oz jigs to get a little deeper. Some techniques that work are to put your boat in neutral at times to let the rigs drop then back to idle and sometimes you’ll get strikes and more action that way.
