I have been offered a stellar deal on a 2010 Ultimate 14.5 w/Propel. please offer Pro’s and Con’s. I was keyed into a Hobie Revo but lost the opportunity (business is business:wink:) and now I’m looking for other options and have thought the ultimate may be an alternative to the revo. I’m just a little worried about the hybrid design with no scuppers. any ■■■■■■■■?
I would jump on it. Can make it single or
tandem, stand in it, great seat. What more do you want? I saw a guy in one last week in JAX who just caught himself a fat 22" trout. So they catch fish too

I would jump on it as well. I have the volt version. I do not think you can make that boat tandem though if that is something you were looking for. If it has the propel drive then it will have the covered hole in the center to lower the propel unit essentially making it a solo machine. You could take a small child up front but it is not tandem in the same sense that a 14.5 without the propel drive is. Great boat, I carry a hand bilge just in case but have only really had to use in once and that was due to getting stuck in a massive storm. Just be aware of your surroundings and it will serve you very well.
I’m kinda worried about weight and speed as well. I trailer my stuff but moving to and from water might be kinda tough. I have a 14.5 future beach SOT right now and it weighs about the same as the ultimate and paddles like a barge. it has served me well for almost 5 yrs now. Just time to update. anyone know if the propel is as fast as the mirage drive??

The mirage has the potential to go faster than the propel. With the prop set up, you just want to use a nice steady cadence. If you try to put too much into it, you will get some cavitation. The reverse feature is really cool on the Propel, but the Mirage drive is easier to use in shallow water. I do like the seat, the pedal motion, and the ability to stand up in the Ultimate better than the revolution.

I was set on a Hobie Outback or Revo before I walked into Time out. After testing both, I went with the Native Mariner over the Revolution. Dave at Time Out convinced me that it was the boat for my type of fishing and use. The native was just more stable. I can stand up and throw a cast net out of my Native without a problem.
My propel drive is great. It does limit the shallow water use. But when I want to get skinny, I flip it up and just paddle or pole my way around. I can stand and pole myself around. I did like the Mirage drive of the Hobie a little better. It was a little less effort to go the same speed. But Native is supposed to fix that with a new prop design for 2012. I hope to switch out my prop for the new design.
Reverse is AWESOME. Makes fishing a dock a lot easier. But I have learned that you have to watch where you lines are when you go in reverse. I have wrapped a few lines around the prop.
Overall, I am very happy with my Native. The Ultimates are great boats and should be no problem getting around in most waters around here. Very stable boats.
