Underwater Cameras

I read an article in South Carolina Sportsman about underwater cameras and it got me interested. Have any of y’all ever tried one of these things? I guess they would only be useful for looking at sheepshead inshore. Can they “see” through our turbid water? Would they be useful at the nearshore reefs? They are pricey that’s for sure.

I think saltfisher had one at one time. Or someone here did. Inshore you probably couldn’t see much, but at the reefs it would be pretty awesome.

I use mine all the time during the winter months. It will not work in cloudy water or if the current is really strong. The one I have works great inshore in less than 20 ft. I have tried it at the reef but it does not work well. I bought mine on Ebay a few years ago for $100 and bought another one at Harbor Tools for $ 75.00. The one I have spins in current but does give a great view of the underwater when conditions are good.

Thanks saltfisher.

Here are a few videos using the go pro camera underwater. We often drop it down on a sled to check for viz and the wreaks to see what kind of fish they are holding.

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

I pulled the trigger on a Marcum. I’ll post a report after I use it. Thanks fellas.

Well there is this…not sure exactly how to take it…lol

Let the fish do the fishing! I imagine it’s a one time use

I used my new Marcum out at Capers last week. Excellent image quality. You can really see all those black sea bass. Frustrating because I could see a lot of sheepshead too!

I picked up a Fish TV from Bass pro a few years ago on clearance for <$100. I have used it as far out as the Gardens and it works like a champ. The kids love it.
