I live on the Ashley at Greg’s landing rightabove the sandbar and power lines. I have threw lures at the boat landing countless times for testing and just because reasons. Throughout the 8 years I’ve lived there, I’ve caught exactly six stripers, all in the winter and about 12" and three largemouth about 1 1/2 lbs each. That’s it. I know there is an occasional red and flounder up that way, but when I go fishing, it isn’t at my landing on the Ashley. So on Friday, I was at the landing rigging up for my Saturday morning session and throwing each rig in the water for the heck of it. Much to my surprise, the cork went under and the drag sounded off. Fully expected it to be a largemouth, but it sure was fighting like a trout. Got her to the bank and sure enough it was a trout. Caught on all things but the Vudu hookless shrimp. Double surprise! Glad I caught a trout there before I move to the Stono/Kiawa area.
