Upcoming freeze

Calling for some seriously cold weather over the next 48-60 hours. Any opinions on what it’ll do to the Trout and Redfish? Hope it won’t be cold long enough to kill a lot of em off, but what do I know.

I’m concerned for the trout, but I won’t lose sleep over it…what can you do? Nothing!

I was talking with a friend the other day about the same issue and he said something that made a lot of since. I had the same though as you both do, but what he said was since we have had a gradual cool down the trout do whats natural and go to deeper water to escape the cold. The problem we have with the huge trout kills is when we have a quick massive cool down and they get caught in the shallow water and don’t have time to escape. I think if this is true we should be fine with the trout. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Good insight. Makes a lot of sense.

Yeah…Its the hard, fast freezes that seem to kill them.
