I have a Garmin GPSMAP 441S that I bought about 6-7 years ago. I need to update the maps. It appears that I download the new data from the Garmin site onto a blank SD card. Will the unit update automatically once I place the card into the SD slot? Just curious as I’ve never updated this unit before.
I went to update the maps on my Garmin. Garmin told me their most likely wouldn’t be enough memory and that I would have to leave the SD card in. I only have one SD slot so that’s out. Hopefully you will have enough memory on your unit.I upgraded. My GPS Unit was only 2 years old

I also have a Garmin 441s. I bought it in 2010. They have added a few new day boards in the harbor since then. I have been thinking of updating my chart plotter but I’m not that computer savvy. Can you just buy an SD card to update it???
My understanding is that you need a minimum 32 Gb SD card, go to the Garmin website, download the update and then put it in your 441 and follow the prompts. I hope it is that easy.
