Put in at Slands bridge and within an hour and half had 20 some bream. It was a blast catching so many fish out of the yak.
Blst catching, is that something like whoom fishing??
Will be moving back to Charleston in the next month, need someone to fish with!!
give me a email when ya get here, I am also looking for a yak fishin partner. Seems like most the people on this board are either extremely protective of their fishing holes or they aren’t fishing.
I went up to givans yesterday and put in at Harleys bridge. I got about 10, some of the redbreast were big ones.
Cutmullet,
Have not done any fresh water out of my kayak yet. Where is Slands bridge? Would love to get out some bream.
Slands bridge is , its where the ashley river crosses 61, the first time, coming from oakbrook(summerville). Just before the golf course and finger ponds. It looks like a ditch, which is about what it is, but productive and serene.
Where bouts have you saltwater yak/fished? I’m going to edisto next tues and gonna try Scott creek.
mostly i/c behind sullivan’s and some up in north inlet area. went last Thursday and released 5 reds. one was 23’. nothing better than getting pulled around by a fish.
Thought about hitting Givhans State Park tomorrow for some fishing. Any advice?

I caught 6 bream today at slands, all med/sm. My brother caught a few more in his jon boat. I think the lower water level had a negative effect.
Beerbuzz and I went to edisto state park the last 3 days, we surffished, and I got to take the yak out behind the campground (higher than average tides). I saw many spottails finning, didn’t have rod. It was really cool, these fish in 8-10" of water. We got a few nice tout in the surf, but mostly small stuff.
As far as Givans- only thing I know about freshwater is bettlespin and maybe paddle up a bit on the river and there is a creek off to the right, that will get you out of the current.
good luck.
