Upper Wando 8/26

I was able to get out on the water monday morning before the sunrise the first time in a while for me. And was not disapointed the air was cool water was flat and the bait was plentiful. First thing before I even cranked the boat I saw a bunch of bait running around behind my jet dock at the marina so I grabed my net and loaded up on shrimp, mullet and menhaden. I was now overloaded with bait with the couple dozen mud minnows I also brought.

Decided to head up the Wando past the 41 bridge tried several diferent areas and ended up with 15 or so trout lost count all 12" to 14" and about 10 lady fish all around 20" to 24" for the first couple of hours. Then I finally managed to pick up 2 nice keeper trout 20" for dinner.

I ended up fishing all day and decided to stay for the sunset bite hoping for some topwater action. I was not disapointed ended up with six real nice redfish all 24" to 32". Had about ten blow ups but only two were caught on top using a 4" 3/4oz Badonk-A-Donk. The others were on a carolina rig with a live mullet. Had a great day on the water glad to finaly have some dry weather back.

What a great day! Some impressive fish and numbers! Thanks for sharing!:sunglasses:

Is there a name for the trout, ladyfish, redfish slam? If not, I think there should be. Any ideas?

Nice fish and report, DDS2!

Only one in the cast net about 2" long wish I would catch a few for dinner. We were catching a few several weeks ago however most of my flounder have been from gigging and I havent been since last year. I’ve recently rebuilt my gigging rig and will post some before and after pics in the boats and motors page soon I need to finish up a few things first.

Redstripe It was I caught one right at 20" and one a little over 19" towards the middle of the day.

Northchucky the ladyfish are fun I agree but if your not careful they will make a mess of you and the boat. One covered me and the boat with its blood took 15 mins to clean it up.
