Upper Wando 9-1-12

Fished the late afternoon rising tide. One small trout on finger mullet. Lots of baitstealers eating the shrimp, but nothing else.

Shrimp were hard to come by. And the water was dark coffee colored from all the rain washing out the national forest. Disappointing to think the rain may have already sent most of the shrimp down the river.

Anyone else have an opinion on all the rain, lack of shrimp, and lack of fish biting?

yea i fished the wando this past week and seemed really slow. i believe the rain messed it up. water was very off colored. i tasted the water in one creek and literally tasetd like freshwater. went up the ICW yesterday and tore up the reds. any one else have succes in the wando?

My wife and I kayak fished the upper Wando yesterday, starting early in the morning at 7am. We fished the incoming tide with no luck until right before the high tide peaked around 10. At that point we started catching lots of Trout, almost all right at the size limit. We were using mud minnows fishing on the bottom and the top, catching on both. The water was a really dark tea stained color from all of the rain, we could barely see the paddle in the water it was so nasty. Once the tide started going out, that was it, no more hits. Fun day, didn’t think we would catch anything really with the water color.
