USCG is looking for Capt Ron Fowler of Mt Pleasant. Mitzi was found capsized offshore and we can not reach Capt Fowler. If any of you know how to reach him please get him to contact us or the USCG. Till then keep him in your prayers
I don’t know him, but man I hate hearing this type of news. The article says he was last seen at noon, and at 1:30 the boat was 16 miles offshore. where was he seen at noon? Very windy yesterday for a 17 foot boat to be near the ocean.
Praying he is safe

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
I used to work for this man when he built houses. He built a house right next to mine and hired me as a summer job. He is a super knowledgeable boater and fisherman. A great guy who truly loved the water. I do have a hypothesis as to what happened tho:
Let it be known Ron Fowler is a balls to the wall guy. He took his boat out around noon or 1. Am I correct that it was very windy that day? Yes it was probably a 3 to 4 chop in the harbor. The boat was a 16ft Mitzi skiff. Ron must have been hauling in the chop getting thrown around heading to god knows what destination. A wave, a big (**() wave must have came and knocked Ron’s head on the deck throwing him out of the boat, unconscious. Boat either flipped then or by the next wave after. But Ron is still in the water unconscious. Ron was not wearing a life jacket, was not going slow and was not wearing that red killswitch. If he is conscious then there is hope because he was a fit guy who could and sure as hell would swim to shore 10 miles or not this man is crazy determined. He would have probably liked the challenge.
Above is only my educated guess. I am not trying to tarnish Ron’s name as I have a tremendous amount of respect for the man he taught me a hell of a lot working for him that summer. I am guilty of my second to last sentence of the hypothesis every time I go in my skiff. Im sure alot of us are. However it is things like this that make me truly appreciative of how fragile this life is. I consider myself lucky to have met this exceptionally hard working man. He was absolutely the hardest worker I have ever met. To quote the man himself “I just love coming out here and working hard, I honestly get off to it!” Ron I hope my predictions are wrong and you are on a sandy beach somewhere. If not I really appreciate you taking me under your wing,I hope I didn’t disappoint you. You are in my thoughts and prayers everynight until I see you again someday.
latest update: The Coast Guard has halted its search for a 36-year-old Mount Pleasant man whose boat was found capsized in the Atlantic Ocean earlier this week.
Ronald Fowler was last seen at noon Monday, after which he was reported missing by his girlfriend, according to authorities.
A passerby discovered his 17-foot Mitzi skiff overturned around 1:30 p.m. the next day about 16 miles east of Charleston.
The Coast Guard ended the effort to find him this morning after completing 15 search patterns over 7,324 square miles. Coast Guard helicopters, airplanes and boats complemented resources from the Charleston County Sheriffs Office and the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
Anyone with information about Fowlers disappearance should call Coast Guard Sector Charlestons command center at 740-7050.
Just read it. very sad indeed. Although they can be uncomfortable, wear your PFD. Invest in a PLB, there is no way to say safety is not worth a few hundred bucks.
