Urigs with Lead Core

Guys,
Does anyone have any line out/depth relationships for using u-rigs with Lead Core. I have heard some people say the weight takes them deeper, and then another manufacturers website says that all of the swimming action from shad u-rigs actually lifts the rigs and they DON’T sink as fast. Anyone have any answers for that?

No but I did have Capt Mack Farr tell me you can pull them with a downrigger but you need a special release.

I do pull the cisco kids with leadcore line and they seem to really get down deep but the problem is I do not know how deep

Yeah, I am going to invest in some downriggers and get the offshore adjustable releases…we had about 8 colors out in Murray on Saturday and got hung up in 100’ of water showing nothing on sonar. Go figure that one. Is it actually possible that a u-rig was 100’ down with only 240’ of line out? That would seem way way too deep, but there it was, we were hung up in 100’ of water.

But there is no way you can target the summer stripers 80 feet down without the downriggers putting you at a precise depth. The lead core just seems too variable from lure to lure.

with my setup lead core line and bucktails I get about 5 foot per color but if you are trolling with a diver or an umbrella I would anticipate no more than 8 foot per color. Just a guess.
