Talk to all the kayak rentals in your area. When they update their inventory they usually sell the old stuff cheap. There are quite a few kayak rentals in Key West, I started giving them a call and found one buissness doing that. I bought a 2 man Jocassee (15’7") with a 700lb capacity and 2 paddles for $300. A new one runs around $800 plus paddles. I’m 6-1 255lbs so those little sit-on-tops were out of the question. I have a pic of us in it on the photo page. Good Luck
Try checking out the Nantahala Outdoor Center Kayak flea market at the Guest Appreciation Festival. There will be 1000+ used yaks for sale of all types. I am 6’5’/ 285 lb and found a huge ( 45 gal displacement) Swifty there last year. I got the yak, skirt and paddle for $105 from an outfitter who came down from the Chesapeake Bay area. Most are white water boats but they do have some ocean types and some really off-the-wall stuff. I wish I had been there in time to pick up this tandem boat that had two long outriggers. Looked like a little trimiran- really cool but was a;ready sold. Fun weekend. Laird
