using swivels with grubs

I constantly change my bait and in the yak, it gets to be a pain tieing each one seperate. My question, do you think it makes a diffence in the bite, using a snap-swivel with the grub?

I am not sure with grubs but a swivel used with other baits, like crankbaits, effects the way they perform.

I’ve seen the grubs look like they are “spinning” when tied directly to the line…would a snap swivel or barrel swivel stop this or would it affect the bite? Has anyone else had this problem?

When using a spinning rod I use a swivel tied about 6 to 8 inches above the grub. It keeps the line from twisting on the spinning reel. On a baitcaster, I tie directly to the lure.

I’ve seen that fish won’t hit a grub as often if it is attached to a swivel.

ive seen the same.
mostly in clear water or under bright skies.
side by side, the man w/ the swivel gets less bites…
at least until he ties directly on.
i have heard, however, that painting the swivel w/ red nail polish or h20proof paint, can actually entice a bite, but never tried it…

The point of painting them red is to help simulate an injured baitfish, they say it can really make a non=feeding fish bite. Sounds like it makes sense, but you never know, never tried it.

I always use a #20 duo-lock snap for lures. I fish clear water and have just as many or more hits. Makes changing lures in a yak very easy and I can get away with fewer rods.

Is that an offer there Leadenwah Boy?

The Bentz-craft qoute?

I don’t think that boat will ever be leaving my yard. Sorry
