Vacation Help

Hey Yall, Im looking for a little vacation advice. Were taking a family trip this summer, and looking for where to go? Was originally thinking FL keys. VRBOing a house for a week and staying in the lower keys for a week of inshore and nearshore reef fishing and scuba diving and all. Since we cant trailer a boat… Im thinking maybe we outta save that for later…? Anybody have any other suggestions on where to go for inshore fishin maybe some scuba, beaches ext? A great DIY fishing location and other activities to please the women? Thanks!

Check out Fort Morgan Alabama at the east end of the mouth of Mobile bay, 30 mi. west of Gulf Shores! Went last Aug. for the first time, took a 23’ CC with a 115 and fished rigs out to 25 mi catching red snapper, grouper, kings, spanish, jacks and inshore for reds, trout and flounder, plenty of bait. People in kayaks out around the close rigs catching a lot of fish. I recomend the place highly am going back myself. It 400 mi. closer than the keys!

If your going to the keys in summer, between the heat, humidity, and insects it can be brutal for women and kids. Also brief the kids on the local population (gays and weirdos), its easier to say “those are some of the people we talked about” than to explain things as they see them. Stayed in Key West last June/July. Hot as 40 hells, but lots of activites to keep the women and kids occupied. Several state parks on the way down to explore. Get a couple of guide books, most will list a couple of out of the way places to visit. Good fishing at most public bridges or throw ins for kayaks. Lots of good guides and scuba charters too.

Check out Cape San Blas/St. Joseph Peninsula, FL. Lots of VRBO houses on the beach and rental cabins and camping in the state park. St. Joe Bay is usually gin clear and excellent for trout, redfish, and flounder, and the surf is good for whiting, pompano, and sharks. There’s also a bay scallop season that runs from late June thru late September. Most people use snorkel gear to find scallops in 2’-8’ of water, but I guess you could scuba for them, too. Rental boats and kayaks are available, or there are a lot of places you can wade-fish. Its a sleepy area, so there’s not much to do other than lay on the beach or fish, but that’s just about perfect for me. My wife and I have been twice and she keeps asking when we’re going back.

If you go, be sure to stop by the Indian Pass Raw Bar. You won’t regret it.

didnt get an email… Thanks though yall!
