vacation ideas

I’m 38 and my wife is 32. I would like to think we have more fun that most people our age. That being said, I couldn’t spend more than 1 full day in KW. Miami is our second home. We are actually headed back down to South Beach at then end of January to party with some friends. The food in Miami is fantastic (Sushi Samba, STK, Prime 112, Yardbirds, Big Pink, etc). I am going to get scolded for saying this, but believe it or not, you will find the best chicken and waffles on the planet in Miami (Yardbird’s). I did not believe this myself when I was told this. A drunken Puerto Rican told me this! I thought to myself, “How in the world could there be good fried chicken in Miami. Everyone knows the best fried chicken is in South Carolina”… I called bull****e on him, but later ate some major crow.

You will be hard pressed to find more fun and excitement than in Miami. That being said, prepare to spend some cheddar. A typical cocktail in South Beach will run you about $20. But, if you are there, the best “bang for your buck” is at Mango’s in South Beach. You can probably get cocktails around the $15 mark. But, you might as well do the VIP and get a table for around $300 which will get you a bottle of grey goose. Enjoy the show… http://mangos.com/index.php

That being said, I would drive down to Key Largo to eat at Sharky’s for some fish tacos in a heartbeat. Then, head down to Marathon. If you are interested, I know a guy in Marathon who does free diving charters for all skill levels. He could have you shooting hogfish in 10’ of water or pulling lobsters out of holes in 7’ of water. That’s a good day trip, but I think you will need a wetsuit this time of year.

Honestly, I am not a big Vegas fan. If I had never been to Miami, I would probably love Vegas. Miami has anything Vegas has, plus a beach and culture. You can still have a “chill” time in South Beach. But if you want casino, there is always the Hard Rock in Ft Lauderdale on the Seminole reservation.

As for night life, don’t ever ever ever ever choose a boobie bar in homestead. Head to Miami for that.

Scarlett's or Tootsies, which is actually in "Miami Gardens"... Or so I have heard...

Also, before you go to Tootsie’s, make sure you buy some stock in the company so you feel good about “making it rain” there… Yes, they are publicly traded on the stock market. Only skinneej could have told you that…
