Delivered a boat to Houma, La over the weekend and had to run out to the gulf on Saturday for a shakedown cruise with the new owner. Caught our 7 man limit of endangered ARS in 20 minutes. All were in the 6-8lb range. Topped that off with 2 nice Cobia.
On Sunday we swung through Venice to fish with Capt Kevin Beach on his new “Pale Horse”. We left the dock at 8am and ran out around 65 miles from South Pass and it was on, tunas busting all over the place. Caught seven YFTs all together. 1 was around 25lbs, 5 were in the 70-80lb class and the biggest weighed in at 120lbs. We left them chewing at 1pm and were back at the dock by 3pm.
Coolest part was I caught a 70lb + tuna on a popper. Bass fishing on the ocean for tuna… NIIICCCE.
The gulf is back open… well most of it. I think there is an area around the Horizon accident that is still closed.
Kevin Beach, Billy Wells, and Rimmer Covington all fish under the name of the “Mexican Gulf Fishing Company”. They are still running Vessel of Opportunity assignments, but that will probably be ending soon.
Nice report. Good to see some sense of normalcy coming back down there.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
