MGFC. They all run Freemans, and they all know their stuff. Do a search in the “offshore reports” forum, and you’ll see what I mean. You’re welcome…
“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
Without a doubt Capt Kevin and the Mexican Gulf boy are top notch- they just landed two bluefin over 500lbs which is impressive to say the least. I was down there two months ago and drooled all over their 42’ Freeman’s but personally couldn’t afford to charter them…especially since you have to pay for the fuel you use as well. I ended up fishing two full days with Capt Bob Hovey for the price of one day on some of the other boats. Had a great time and caught several nice wahoo (one over 60lbs), handful of 20lb blackfin, and we even deep dropped for swordfish. The yellowfin bite was very slow while I was there and the only guy out of Venice Marina that was still bringing them back was Capt. Eddie Burger. The other Captains I talked to at the marina bar that night touted him as being one of the best tuna guides in the area. Hope you have half as much fun down there as I did…can’t wait to get back.
Ive heard the MGF guys are great. Sometimes they are really booked out. We’ve had good trips with Paradise Outfitters. Capt. Scott Leger holds the Louisiana State YF tuna record or at least he did as of a year ago. They were running big Cats but they weren’t Freemans. Some sort of Custom rig which was plenty nice. Scott can put you on a variety fish if you are looking to do a mix of fishing.quote]Originally posted by Flat Fly n
