Thinking about booking an inshore trip down in the area late feb early March. What kind of expectations should I have for time of year down there? I’ve been in spring and summer and had epic days but never earlier than April/May.

I spent a few years in the New Iberia / Houma area doing a lot of fishing. One thing will be the weather, seems like that time of year there’s a lot of rain, but they are a lot farther south than us here in SC and the water warms up faster there. You should do good on the reds and specks both, I caught them both in Feb and March along with some really nice flounder. Venice is a place where no matter what time of year if you go with a guide you will be successful. Eat some crawfish for us. Its that time of year there.
