I can’t do the storytelling S4g can do so I will let some of the pictures do the talking. Loaded up the 250 for the long hall to Venice La for a week of fishing and diving. A chest freezer and a couple of 125 qt coolers would hopefully do the trick. 30 steel 120cuft. Scuba tanks and a week of good SC vittles and she was loaded down. Made it almost to Jax to pick up my son Ledslinger when things started to get FUBAR! The F250 began to sputter and buck and after a short brain storm Looseshoe and I decided not to take the chance ending up somewhere on I-10 broke down and started loading up the gear in Realfish01’s truck after he arrived from Chas with Capt Jimmy. Dropped the truck at a Ford dealership and asked my daughter in law to handle it. Love you Amy. After returning from a 20hr on call repair in Waycross Ga just to find out he had to turn around and head back after 3hrs sleep, it wasn’t looking good for Ledslinger! Loaded his gear and headed out. Met up with Pepe who was pulling his 34 Specter up from Ft Myers to join us.
A blown tire on the trailer in Pensacola and two hrs later we were good to go the rest of the trip. We arrived in Venice at 11pm after almost 24hrs, tired but jacked. Pepe pulled the boat 22hrs to get there to make it all happen. Stayed aboard a nice house boat in the marina and Capt. Kevin with the MGFC picked us up on the back porch at 0600 Monday morning. We were fishing a 6wk old 37 Freeman, bad ass boat! Made bait quickly and we were in the YFT early with them crashing around us but could not connect. Put some good Blackfins and some 30lb Dolphin in the boat, just not what we were looking for.
Next morning Capt made the call to go in another direction and we headed out 110 miles to new fishin
Nice report
That’s definitely on my list of places to fish. Actually told the wife yesterday that I would love to try Venice next year.
I’m anxiously awaiting the dive footage. That would be cool to dive one of those oil rigs.
Great Pictures. Man what a trip! Thanks for sharing this. We used to fly out of Venice to the oil rigs my first job out of school, This looks way more fun.
you have convinced me to add this trip to my bucket list for sure , great trip and reports thanks for sharing all the pics .
