Ventilation

I was hoping to get some advice/informed opinion here, adding a couple of pics to illustrate my question. Might be a dumb question, but if I knew, I wouldn’t be asking

I have a 14’ fiberglass skiff with a 25 Merc tiller. I am not light, neither is that motor; the boat squats some when I am in it alone and back on the rear bench while the boat is at rest.

There is a small casting deck at the bow and I want to put my 6 gallon fuel tank up under there to get the weight evened out some if I can. I have a good idea how to get the fuel line run safely up there but am not sure about venting that space. There is room to put one 4.25"x 8" vent on either side of an access hatch.

So… remove that pvc rod holder stuff and install vents in that area. Do you guys think that would do it?

Hey Strato…I would just get some cooler holders and mount it out side the compartment.the weight should hold it in place then you can refill easy… just remember all fumes will lay in the bottom of a boat and tanks should be vented to the outside…Just my 02…In fact,I have some, stop by I will give them to you…:sunglasses:

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

Thanks Doc I will do that soon. Will give you a call.

those people in your avatar, I could swear it was Oaks about five years ago, but don’t remember the umbrella.

You might consider getting a tank certified for below-deck installation then run an anti-siphon type vent out the side of the hull or the bulkhead. You could leave enough extra play in the vent line to be able to pull the tank out for a filling. Biggest problem with this solution might be finding something less than 12 gallons that will fit into your hatch.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

Thanks BR I will look into that.
