Caught several ARS the other day…could not revive one of them and it killed me to watch it float away. Water was relatively shallow, fish lip hooked, and when vented could hear the gases escaping…
Anyone have any tips on helping that fish survive…have heard of putting the fish back on the hook and slowly lowering it down to 30 or 40 feet…has anyone ever tried this method?
West marine had them for 40 bucks. No venting anymore. Going to put it on an old penn 209 I have sitting around. I have been doing research on this and feel this is the only way the fish swims away healthy.
SeaQualizer also makes a product for helping fish survive barotrauma. www.theseaqualizer.com
Keep in mind that a portion of each dollar spent at West Marine is donated to the eco-corporation Oceana which is pushing to close large areas of traditional fishing grounds. Please ask the WM managers to stop funding Oceana.
