Venture vs Wesco

I sold my ezloader that wasn’t fitting my boat and leaving marks on the keel from the cross members. The trailer needed major adjustment to fit my boat so I just sold it and buying a new one.

Looking at two trailers for my boat. Both a Venture and Wasco. Both have torsion axles, stainless hardware, guide posts, front bunks and both aluminum I beam.

The differences are the venture has aluminum wheels and the Wesco has galvanized. The Wesco has straight bunks and the venture has v bunks. The Wesco is a little smaller than the venture which will be good cause it will fit in the driveway better.

I hear good things about Wesco and not so good things about venture, but side by side the venture seems like the better trailer. Both are the same price.

What’s everyone opinion on the two brand and what would you choose?
Thanks!

Just my two cents. Most trailers nowadays are made from by combining sub manufacturer (kodiak brakes, tie-down eng., etc.) parts on an aluminum frame. The placement of parts is done by the inhouse engineer and adjusted by the local dealer. I went to charleston trailer where the inhouse engineer actually builds the trailer to the boats specifically… they figured a way to fit my heavy Albemarle on one perfectly.

Load rite makes some of their own parts and when it comes to replacing parts it tends to be much higher.

Have a custom trailer built for your boat by Charleston trailer. Made local and great to work with. These guys made a trailer for my bass boat that rivals anything on the market.

Take A Kid Fishing

i cant speak on the charleston trailer co., nor the venture, but i HAVE owned wesco trailers since 1985 and have never had a problem with them. they are local, so it s easy to get service and parts. they also offer custom aluminum wheels, which i ordered for my last trailer. use it in salt and fresh water with no corrosion problems on the wheels so far. (3 yrs). good luck also, i did order the stainless bolt pkg.

Go talk to Rod at Charleston Trailer, then make your decision.

Thanks for the reply guys. I did go to Charleston Trailer and they said they were not producing trailer at the moment and would be sometime before they were up and running again. They hit a snag for one reason or the other. Sounded funny to me, but that was from the guys in the back not the salesmen as he wasn’t there to talk to. This was a few weeks ago. Don’t know what’s up but left not wanting to go back.

The dealer for the Wesco let me try it out and its a little small for the boat but will work. I’m going to test fit the venture this week and make a decision.

What size trailer?

And yeah, you gotta talk to Rod. I went two Saturdays ago to see about a single axle trailer. Rod wasn’t there, but Steve told me the same that they were slammed and weren’t taking new orders until September. But they had one not completed yet that is now completed and was available as of the beginning of this week that I looked at. I also called and talked to Rod during the week. I really wanted to buy that trailer, but was having a difficult time stomaching $2250 for it. It’s a dang nice trailer and fully optioned out. In the meantime I opened up CL on on Monday at just the right time when a guy posted the equivalent used Wesco for $750. No brainer for me (dry stacked boat, on the trailer once every couple months), I now own a used Wesco instead of the Charleston Trailer.

“a litle small for the boat but will work” would be an absolute deal breaker for me regardless of the brand. Nothing worse IMO than a trailer that’s not big enough. I’ve had 2 too many trailers that were too small!
