Very Loose Steering Wheel???

My steering wheel is very loose. I thought it was the actual wheel and went to tighten the bolt in the center of the wheel. That is not the problem. It appears that the shaft? that the steering wheel sits on is very loose. Is there anyway to tighten this? Not sure if it matters or not, but the wheel/shaft has a tilt adjustment.

Thanks for any insights,

Hydraulic or manual steering?

sounds like either you have a leak in the line or air in it! try bleeding the system first?

if it is a cable steering, there is an allen head screw that holds the tilt part in place, pull the wheek off, pull the boot off, then check all the fasteners. The screww is in one of the universal joints of the shaft. If its hydraulic, have it bled and checked for leaks

It has hydraulic steering. I looked in the console around the housing and nothing jumped out that could be tightened?

I was mistaking on my steering. It is not hydraulic. So I guess I need to do some exploring for loose bolts/fittings/etc.?
Thanks

If it tilts it probably is hydraulic. My old boat had a bearing under the bolt that made it loose. I had to replace it. It kind of wobbled so to speak but would turn fine. It was a seastar wheel.
