Anyone running one of these flush mounted? Do you have any issue getting a fixed location? My VHF screen quit working so I can’t tell what channel I’m on and its probably easier just to buy a whole new unit instead of trying to fix the one that’s in there. I want to have the feature that I can send a distress signal but don’t want to mess with trying to hook it in through the GPS.
Standard Horizon has some combination VHF units that have built in GPS. Check 'em out. I have one and it works well. Radio is fine and GPS functions well as a backup to your GPS with charts (does not have chart capability)and you can send your distress signal, showing GPS location if you ever need to. Mine is not flush mounted so I cannot comment to how it would work as a flush mount

I have a Standard Horizon with the internal GPS. It is mounted on top of the CC console! I don’t have any problem getting a signal inside the garage! I also have a chart plotter with the internal GPS antenna that is on another boat. It is mounted inside a box in front of the helm steering wheel. It receives a signal inside the dash box and through a pretty thick hard top!
I put in a “Standard Horizon GX1700W Standard Explorer GPS VHF Marine Radio - White” flush mount. Works like a champ. I don’t have a t-top over my console don’t know if that would make a difference or not but I doubt it. I have no complaints at all. www.thegpsstore.com had the best price when I bought mine but that was a couple years ago
