Vinyl boat wrap

Any of y’all recently had your boat wrapped? How do you like it how does color hold up to sun. Is it a diy project or not a chance in hell

I’m kind of interested also. How durable is it ?
I wouldn’t think that I would try. I get wrinkles when trying to put a sticker on. And if you did it you probably wouldn’t get any type of warranty

From what I’ve read you get what you pay for as far as quality goes. But if you always have your bumpers out and are not gaffing the boat I don’t see how your tear it

Never done a boat but, did the hood of my son’s truck about 3-4 years ago with a quality product and it has held up surprisingly well. Of course a boat is subjected to stuff a car isn’t but, it only cost me about $45. I’d think you’d want some help doing a boat but, if you took your time, it shouldn’t be too hard.

I’ve seen a couple done, and with all the contours and such, I’d never in a million years attempt it on my own.

I used to work in a business that did big color semi wraps. Back then the vinyl and inks made by one company were guaranteed against fading or cracking for seven years. Not sure if the new inks are as good as the old. The good vinyls and inks cost a lot more but they last a lot longer on the big trucks. The company I worked for never did any boat wraps. Ask what the warranty covers when you are shopping.

A buddy of mine wrapped his transom with a teak wrap. Looks really good, and you would never know it was a vinyl wrap, but he has some damage where the dock lines come out of the hawser holes and rub the transom when the boat gets tossed around in the slip.

I had my 21 bay boat done about 5 years ago for a color change. With the exception of an aw dam moment at the dock causing a ding, the wrap looks as good as new and shines well. For color change, the material is order to color and not ink printed. Cant speak to ink printed wraps. Absolutely not a DIY project in my eyes. Was a little pricey, but less than a sand and repaint. Still glad I did it.
