Whats the story with that boat landing on Virginia avenue next to the Hess storage facility? (not the public boat ramp under the 526 bridge)
Is that the home of the North Charleston Fishing Club?
Do they have a website?
Can anyone buy a memebrship to use boat landing?
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good but I wanna see it.
Lights On!
yeah it is about $300 plus a year, that is the north charleston fishing club. the only rule is when you get in and launch your boat you can’t linger around, and when you get back and load you have to be quick about it.
you stand a good chance of getting robbed/mugged so you have to be quick about it… j/k… but dont leave anything of value in plain view. there have been a number of break ins there from what ive heard. my father in law puts in there and has never had a problem though. $300 sounds a little expensive. i thought it was more like a buck fifty but im not sure.
Earlier this year, I called the lady who manages the that “club landing”. IIRC, it was $150 for a year, $50 (I think) for each additional trailer, renewable in Aug. and I don’t believe it is pro-rated so now would be a good time!
Also, no smoking, drinking, loitering, partying, parking without permit affixed to trailer, etc. It has a crappy fixed dock and looks like it will really chew your boat up if you tie it up at low tide to go get your truck & trailer.
Considering the ever-increasing security measures around here…I’m surprised it’s still open!

That place is sketchy at best. Good luck with all that.
I have my own chickens though that live in my 2 acre yard and lay eggs several times a week. I feed them everyday and they are well taken care of…well except that one that my dog, Roscoe, got to and attacked. After we got that one back from Roscoe, and boy did he not want to let that thing go, it stopped producing eggs and now it just kind of lays around all day drooling on the other chickens. I never saw a chicken drool before, but this one does for some reason. We call him Lucky…because he was lucky to live when roscoe half way ate him up. He’s been a great chicken since.

I use that landing all the time and I can assure that it is secure. The hess security gaurd station is right next to the landing parking lot. The park that has the public ramp is a different story.
whats the difference? you can walk from the public to the hess club in about 5 minutes, plus theres lots of good spots to hide and hide your stolen goods i used to be a member there but now i just use the public one. my boat fits under the trestle so it sdoesnt bother me

You know what; that’s what I’m thinking of then. Jerms and I put in his little boat there one day last year and I remember asking him if he was really sure he wanted to do that.
Very shallow water at the public place too. We were bouncing bottom in a 16’ jonboat.
Fished out of the NCFC for many years growing up with my father, and he is still actually a member there I believe. I’ve never had any problems while fishing with him there, but I do know that his truck was broken into once through the split window in the back and a few things were stolen. The only other bad thing I can come up with is the ramp used to be (and still might be) a little beat up. There were some large pot wholes in it for a while.
The dock isn’t taken good care of either.
It wasn’t too much to put up with for us, so I never minded puttng in there and would do it again.
From a safety point of view, even the public ramp is questionable sometimes. I return from fishing late at night and have felt it necessary to start carrying pepper spray when I walk back to the truck. One time I just went back out in the water to avoid a dangerous situation.

Keep your fork, the best is yet to come.
Going to/from fishing, you are perfectly legal carrying your pistol in a holster on your side (glove it in the truck or car).
The phone number used to be on the sign at the gate. I called Fern last summer and she quoted $100. and asked if I knew any one who was a member. One thing about the public landing is you might end up being locked in if you stay out too late.
The landing may not be the best but you cannot beat it during the summer. You don’t have to fight the crowds and there is alway a place to park. Never had any problems in the 10 years that I have been using it. The only down side is taking out at dead low during the luner tides.
